In his conceptual book, Psychology, Theology, and Spirituality in Christian Counseling (1996), McMinn presents a convincing presentation of a multitasking counselor who has developed a niche in the counseling world. New age Christian counselors have developed simultaneous skills that embark on the areas of psychology, theology, and spirituality. This begins our journey down the path of understanding how values and perspectives can be changed as a result of a well rounded, multitasking Christian counselor. With life illustrations and brief counseling scenarios throughout this book, McMinn (1996) provides the reader with an excellent working model of identifying and relating life experiences to Psychology, Theology, and Spirituality. The opposition of modern psychology and theology practices is delivering different contemporary messages concerning mental health. Psychologist Albert Ellis wrote, â€Å"The emotionally healthy individual should primarily be true to himself and not masochistically sacrifice himself for others.† Versus Christian spirituality that identifies and states in scripture that as individuals we are instructed to look out for the interest of others (Phil. 2:4) and to prefer one another in honor (Rom 12:10) (McMinn, 1996). As McMinn works through the concepts of integrating these three distinct disciplines, Christian counseling becomes more complex and multifaceted. Christian counselors set their eyes upon God with an individual’s spiritual growth and mental health in their mind. In addition to placing the pieces of a battered mental health condition focus to the forefront, their client’s eternity of life and knowledge of God is an important piece of the puzzle. A more detailed perspective of psychological and spiritual health, allows every individual to recognize their responsibility to God, to their family and friends and to themselves. As humans, we must understand and have a healthy awareness of brokenness to allow ourselves to experience grace and hope in the midst of our walk on this earth through life’s trials and tribulations with Jesus Christ. Integrating psychology, theology, and spirituality in addition to the niche of multitasking, all three disciplines in unison takes time, energy, loyalty, and dedication of the counseling profession. In the last two thirds of this book, McMinn uses prayer, scripture, sin, confession, forgiveness, and redemption to show us a glimpse of the counseling world. The problem with sin is that it separates us from God; the wonder of redemption is that individuals are brought back into relationship with God. (McMinn, 1996, p. 265). A redemptive Christian counselor has humility and compassion and experiences God’s grace with gratitude. Scripture yanks people out of the grips of sin as a redemptive God shines through. Those who deny sin see no need for spiritual redemption. Confession, allows us to acknowledge our sin and our desperate need for help and through the grace of God we receive forgiveness and experience redemption. Once our affections turn to God, our prayer will never be the same. Our lives will be completed changed and everlasting. â€Å"Bless the Lord, O my Soul, and do not forget all his benefits-who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good as long as you live so that your youth is renewed like the e agle’s†(Ps. 103:2-5). Response Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.† As I had struggled throughout my chaotic childhood dealing with the presence of alcohol, drugs, fighting, and uncertain living conditions in my circle of life, I developed the ability to discern which people were right for me in my life. My perception of family was skewed. At the age of 7, I lost my grandfather and life’s losses of my protectors continued until 2004 with the death of my first husband Dale. My life was over. My family was a mess. I had just started a new church and I wasn’t sure where God was in my life. My father in law, who preached my husband’s funeral, started providing Christian guidance and support as a lay counselor. We prayed and shared scripture together. At the age of 33, I learned the true meaning of prayer. I knew how to pray and I knew how humbled I had been in my prayers for Dale. In the kindness of his God filled heart, he taught me that humility allows us to see God’s word. As I study and read my Bible, I continue to learn the importance of a Christian family for support and guidance and the necessity to share the story of Jesus Christ. My father in law stepped out in faith to help turn my life around. Through his obedience, I work to help others who are hurting find the power of prayer and scripture in their times of heartache. Reflection As I read through Psychology, Theology, and Spirituality in Christian Counseling (McMinn, 1996), a highlighter was used to mark special passages I needed to keep in the forefront of this class. There are so many key notes to remember in the text, the book was turning a nice shade of yellow. Anyone who is starting out in the counseling field should be required to read this book. McMinn does an excellent job of showing the reader how to integrate our Christian faith and spirituality into the secular world with real life reflections. Christian counselors want to follow the will of God and McMinn provides the examples, guidance, and techniques on how to incorporate God into the counseling session. The major drawback with this work concerns the conclusion. Throughout the reading, it is apparent McMinn is preparing the counselor to learn the skill of multi-tasking. In two pages, McMinn summarizes the whole book. The most important part of integrating the three diverse areas of studies is profound enough for him to provide a greater level of detail to the new counselor concerning the background of multitasking. Success lies in the strategy that is used in multitasking these three distinct practices and beliefs. In dealing with the secular world, this skill is a necessity to bring all three disciplines together. Action I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. â€Å"Be on your guard against men; they will hand you over to the local councils and flog you in their synagogues. On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say; for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. (Matthew 10:16-20). God has given me back tenfold since the loss of my first husband. I have established myself as a praying respiratory therapist at UVA. As Jesus calls me into the counseling field, he is preparing me for the secular world. In my environment, people are at the lowest points of their lives. I use Gods calling on my heart and spirit to reach out in Christian love to these individuals and families. God places pastors, judges, professional basketball players, the rich, the homeless, the curable, the dying, in my path for a reason and a purpose. Life is simple when you are obedient. Go where God calls you. The people I come into contact with are not by accident. I minister to their hearts through their illness and time of need. I pray for God to give me the strength and the right words of his will to deliver to the sick and their families. I pray for each individual that crosses my path to find the love of Jesus Christ and meet him in heaven to spend an everlasting life with our father.

In this essay I am going to analyse Hytners version by comparing and reviewing the play scenes. My essay is also going to include comments on the language, opening scenes, settings and characters. I think that the stage play is longer than the screen play because the screen play is summarized, this is because in films you don’t have long speech because there are other things around that help you understand, for example when the girls are in court and Abigail pretends to get cold when she see Mary Warren but in the book this is written in a long speech but in the video it is cut down because there is body language used also in the stage play Parris takes books from Hale but in the screenplay John Proctor takes the books because Proctor is the main character, so the main character should welcome Hale at this time Parris is inside with the girls. We are introduced to the one of the main characters when the film begins which is at the night. The first shot we see of the film is Abigail sitting bolt upright in bed because she can’t sleep because of John Proctor. She can’t wait to go cast spells in the woods, which the girls had planned and is looking forward to it. The movement of the girls is very suspicious because you are curious were they are going because they do everything planned, you be asking yourself, why are there so m any and why are they so quiet? I think that the dancing scene brings a lot of excitement to the audience. And when Abigail kills the chicken and licks the blood. I think she is stupid there and heartless because she is killing someone just for her love also the audience is very shocked when they see her doing this. Our attention is on Abigail throughout the opening scene because she’s the first person we see and she takes the lead by drinking chicken blood, she is made to be attractive to the men. Witchcraft starts when Betty falls ill, and everyone thinks she has been witched, also Abigail says they were only dancing but the video shows them conjuring spirits. The main characters in the crucible are John Proctor and Abigail Williams. Abigail is very evil when she pretended that Mary is sending her spirit and making the girl come cold, she acts different at the time, and she is very blue when she is demonstrating this act. John Proctor is powerful in his own way for example when he tells Abigail he don’t lover her and pushes her away, he also is very confident when he confesses the affair he had with Abigail. He is also a risk taker because when he doesn’t sign the paper and has to be hanged But John Proctor is a caring and calm to his children and wife and the village also think that he is an excellent man but the village and his family don’t know that he has been faithful by having an affair behind there back. John Proctor is not a very religious man he had not gone to church throughout the whole play. When Abigail is initially talking to Betty and the girls, the camera is facing Abigail when she speaks the effect this has is that we can see things from Abigail perspective. The lighting is very dim and dreamy the only light we can see is the natural light from the windows. The style of lighting ads to the mood of the scene by then we can realize that this scene is going to be important that the conversation between Abigail and Betty is serious and dull. When the girls are in the woods the lighting is misty, there is a bit of light on the girls mostly on Abigail as there is talking it goes from one person to another. Overall I think that the screen play is better than stage play because in the screen play I could understand what is happening but in the stage play I was confused, because I had to read it and it was quiet confusing but when I watched the video it had people to it so they help me understand more.

Pope Julius II asked Michelangelo to paint the ceiling of the Sistine (sins-teen) chapel in 1508. The chapel was Built by Pope Sixtus IV in 1481. Which happened to be in the Vatican, is known to be the pope’s headquarters in Rome. The chapel measuring in at 130 feet long and 44 feet wide – was a large undertaking to paint. The Sistine chapel particularly important to pope Julius II, since it was the site in which cardinals met to elect new people. Four three years (1508 – 1511) Michelangelo climbed scaffolding in the chapel to his perch about 65 feet above the chapels floor. From This perch, he painted more then 300 massive human figures onto the 5,8000 square-foot ceiling. It was messy, tiring work. Michelangelo wrote the following pome vividly describing his daily agony. The ceiling contains nine paintings illustrating the creation (Separation of Light From Darkness, Creation of the Moon, Stars, and Planets, and Separation of Land and Water), the story of Adam (Creation of Adam, Creation of Eve, and The Temptation and Fall), and the story of Noah (Noah’s Sacrifice, and The Flood, Drunkenness of Noah). Toward the center, he painted the scene that was meant to compel the viewer’s attention. This scene â€Å"The Creation of Adam† God is reaching out to infuse the spirit of life into Adam, the first man. One art historian  pointed out, â€Å"An electric charge seemed to pass between their fingers.† Humanists combined respect for classical learning with supreme confidence in human ability. Michelangelo’s painting represents humanism in the way it glorified the beauty and order in nature, while in older medieval paintings contained only temptation and evil. They thought of Humans are almost equals of god and believed that the powers of the human race should be glorified, in the 300 magnificent human paintings you can spot just how Michelangelo showed this love for the human power. â€Å"The Creation of Adam† shows god touching Adam, the two share an electric charge between the two finger tips. I think this shows that god gave humans power to be equals. Adam in the nude, signifies celebration of the human body proving just how wonderful, strong and beautiful it really is. Michelangelo brought humanism to us though his beautiful painting, showing that not only god can crate things beautiful but the common man can too.

My volunteer’s peak flow reading is 410 therefore this shows that she shows no signs of asthma and her breathing rate is average and shows that her health is in a positive state. My volunteers BMI shows that she is slightly overweight keeping this in mind I have set her targets which will help her to have a average weight. Last of all, my volunteer’s blood pressure is approximately a reading of 120/80 mmHg which is in general an average reading of blood pressure. According to Google, they define blood pressure as, â€Å"the level of pressure that the blood exerts against the walls of the arteries as it passes through them. † This is also a successful indicator of an individual’s health as it measures how fast your heart is pumping blood therefore it advises you if you need to do certain things to help slow down the rate at which your heart pumps. As you can see, it’s a very positive thing and can help stop you from developing diseases such as heart disease and can make your kidney work harder which is very damaging. Blood pressure is very vital to the body and if it is average then your lifestyle will be much more satisfied. Peak Flow Meter: Another way of checking on your health is by using a peak flow meter. A peal flow meter is a special kind of instrument that measures the breathing rate and the volume of air taken in by an individual in the time of each breath. In addition, they are also used to distinguish how efficient a person’s lungs are. To use a peak flow meter, a person has to blow as hard as he/she can into the mouthpiece and then examine the pointer and check the reading however you must do this three times to assure that you get an accurate reading. The measurement is used to estimate the width of the air flow in the bronchi. This is a positive indicator and you can use it to find out whether an individual is breathing properly or if they are managing their asthma correctly etc†¦ Resting pulse and recovery after exercise: A person’s resting pulse rate is the pulse rate when a person is sitting still without moving. You can measure your pulse rate by placing pressure on your wrist or your neck. Your recovery heart rate is the number of beats per minute your heart drops when you stop moving. The higher the fitness levels the faster the drop in heart rate. The most common recovery heart rate can be measurement of up to 1 to 2 minutes however a complete recovery heart may consist of up to an hour. This is a positive indicator of health considering it shows how healthy and athletic your body is after exercise. If your heart does not pump that fast then you are in a healthy and fit state so your body can be affected by much less diseases or illnesses therefore it is very beneficial and helpful.
